Light, who dreams of becoming an adventurer, eats a skill fruit in order to gain a special ability. However, he acquires the bogus skill "Fruitmaster," which is completely unsuited to combat. Eating a second skill fruit results in death. Unable to try again, Light resigns himself to becoming a fruit farmer. Meanwhile, his childhood friend Lena gains the "Sword Saint" skill and debuts as an adventurer. One night, Light accidentally eats a second skill fruit, but...

Incomplete Light
Light becomes an adventurer and is reunited with Lena, now a rank S adventurer, at the guild. However, she acts coldly towards him, and Light is bewildered. The truth is the direction and thinking of Lena's party does not match her own, and she suffers every day. When Light learns about their cruelty, he decides to rescue Lena and have her join his party.

The Magic Castle of Spirits
Light, Lena, and Ayla are hired by the guild to figure out why some adventurers went missing and find them. When they arrive at the count's manor that is their one lead, they encounter adventurers who have been turned into undead. The three of them fight as they head deeper into the manor, where they find Dratena, who uses the "Necromancy" skill, waiting for them.

Taboo Skills
The members of Luxeria defeat the undead controlled by Dratena's "Necromany" skill one after another. The battle grows even more intense with the appearances of the now undead Count of Montes and a Soul Reaper, a monster that turns living humans into undead. During the battle, Light learns of the existence of widely-hated "taboo skills."

A Tumultuous Argument
While Light rests after collapsing, Lena and Ayla are called to the adventurer's guild to report to the guild's authorities on the incident with the Wicked Dragon. They attempt to get information on "Black Swan" and Dratena, but the Holy Sister cleverly dodges their questions, so Lena offers the Wicked Dragon's scale in exchange for access to records concerning Dratena.

The Legendary Blacksmith
Light and Ayla visit the Tradesman's District in search of a blacksmith who will make Light a powerful sword. They're directed to the Bolst Workshop, but on their way there, they come across a girl being pursued by a violent group of men.

The Thundering Beast
Light has successfully rescued Monica from her kidnappers, but Zamdo proves to be a formidable opponent.

The Indomitable Torch Flame
For Light to have a chance of beating Zamdo in combat, Monica must make him a sword, but can she get it done in time?

The Reunion By the Lake
While looking for Dratena in the city of Athena, Lena encounters Flower Hat and her subordinate Yuan.
