Season 1

Episodes

O Ye Winds of Heaven
Saya appears to be a normal, clumsy schoolgirl and shrine maiden in a small town. But unbeknownst to anyone but her father, the priest, she's really a vicious warrior who fights Elder Bairns--monsters that can only be destroyed by Saya's sacred blade.

It's for Thy Sake
After a visit to Café Guimauve, Saya finds a dog with strange markings on the side of the road. Meanwhile, her father has been digging through the shrine archives searching for more information on the Elder Bairns.

As for Man
The baker has gone missing under mysterious circumstances, leaving everyone a little on edge. Saya has bigger problems to deal with, though--namely a shape-shifting Elder Bairn with a cryptic message for the young shrine maiden.

That Has Made Me Sad
Saya manages to have a quiet moment alone with Tokizane despite his cold demeanor. Her happiness is brief, however, as an attack from three Elder Bairns results in the deaths of several townspeople and more unanswered questions.

Meeting in the Way
When gym class is canceled due to bad weather, the students take turns telling ghost stories. To Saya's surprise, the story her teacher tells may hold a secret to her past and the mysterious covenant between humans and Elder Bairns.

Dashed by Fierce Winds
An Elder Bairn attacks the shrine and kills one of Saya's friends. School is canceled out of fear for the students' safety. So why is Nono wandering the streets? And why does her shadow seem to have a life of its own?

As Pitiless As the Storm
Saddened by the deaths of Nono and Nene, Saya struggles with remembering who she made her promise to protect those in the town she loves. Another Elder Bairn attacks the town and Saya is discovered.

Within the World
Saya returns to the shrine to find her father unconscious on the floor, leading her to wonder if he might be keeping something from her. When an Elder Bairn attacks the school, she must choose between keeping her secret and saving her classmates.

Against My Wish
Carnage fills the school as Saya's classmates are brutally slaughtered by an Elder Bairn. Something about the incident causes her to wonder if the monster's appearance is a coincidence, or part of a larger plan.

Since 'Tis by Its Breath
Saya begins to question her past, her memories--even her identity--but is interrupted by an Elder Bairn before she can get any answers from her father. Later, in the shrine's archives, Saya and her teacher make a shocking discovery.

Whom Then Are There Now
Saya's world is turned upside down as repressed memories flood her mind after a dose of Elder Bairn blood. Friends are revealed to be enemies as the truth about Saya's past and the town's dark secret are finally brought to light.

For Some Men I Grieve
An unlikely mastermind has been manipulating Saya, turning her life into a deadly game. But who is the winner? Before that can be determined, Saya will have to come to terms with her true identity, and stop a rampaging horde of Elder Bairns.
