A year after Varus' defeat, a new Roman general gets settled in Germania as Ari seeks to become king of all the tribes — but a rival stands in his way.

Ari suspects the Romans of rebuilding their forces, so he seeks the help of an eastern tribal chief, Marbod. Ari's father, Flavus, arrives in Germania.

A friend comes to Thusnelda's aid when she infiltrates the Roman camp. Without Ari knowing, Marbod meets with Tiberius in a bid to secure peace.

Germanicus accuses Flavus of being a traitor. Ari brings Gaius to the village and then seeks revenge against Marbod. Thusnelda is angry at Ari for lying.

Tiberius requires a test of Marbod's loyalty. Flavus proposes an offer to Germanicus. The tribal chiefs gather to name Marbod king but tragedy strikes.
