After Viggo Kristiansen is convicted in the Court of Appeal in 2002, he starts serving his sentence at Ila prison and detention center. There he meets psychologist Atle Austad, who will prove to be an important piece to get the case resumed. Lawyer Sigurd Klomsæt takes the case. He receives discouraging information when he requests access to the evidence in the case and discovers that key witnesses have never had the opportunity to tell about their observations in court.
