Cornwall

East End
Today's destination is the East End of London. Miriam Margolyes leads a trip around famous markets, historic pubs and some of the most notorious streets in London. The whistle-stop tour reveals the best way to eat jellied eels, brushes up on rhyming slang and meets a host of colourful cockneys from Fred the rag-and-bone man to 15-year-old wartime hero John 'Buster' Cain.

The Highlands
Today's destination is the Highlands, home to the fling, the tossed caber and the ferocious midge. Miriam Margolyes is the guide around Britain's highest mountain, Britain's smallest school and a feathered security system in a wonderful whistle-stop tour.

Liverpool
Today's destination takes a ferry across the Mersey to the city of Liverpool. Miriam Margolyes narrates a whistle-stop trip around the city that is the birthplace of The Beatles, the Merseyside Derby and the crossword puzzle. The programme meets football fans on the Kop, learns the legend of the Liver birds, has a lesson in how to talk scouse, takes in two cathedrals and stands on the stage where the Mersey Beat started.

Blackpool
Today's destination is Britain's favourite seaside resort - Blackpool. Miriam Margolyes leads a trip around beautiful beaches, fun-packed piers and to the top of the iconic Blackpool Tower. We meet fearsome landladies and indomitable pensioners, take a twirl around the floor of the historic Tower Ballroom, learn how Blackpool rock is made and see behind the scenes of the famous illuminations in a wonderful whistle-stop tour.

Bristol
This episode's destination is Bristol. Miriam leads the trip down to the docks, over the magnificent Clifton Suspension Bridge and through vibrant St Paul's, ending up at one of the world's oldest zoos. The programme takes off at the Bristol Balloon Fiesta, witnesses the world's first bungee jump, shows how to talk like a Bristolian, says goodbye to Concorde and even surfs the Severn Bore, all in one wonderful whistle-stop tour.

The Dales
This episode visits the Yorkshire Dales. Miriam guides viewers through this beautiful region, dropping in on a sheep fair, going on a grouse shoot and taking part in the ancient and eccentric sport of knur and spell. The programme meets hill farmer Hannah Hauxwell, takes a ride on one of Britain's most remote railways and has a thumb through Dales folk's favourite magazine on this wonderful whistle-stop tour.

South Wales
This episode's destination is south Wales and the Valleys. The programme explores this enchanting corner of Britain, basking on the beach at Barry, remembering long-lost Tiger Bay and going for a spin in a Welsh sports car. Along the way we head down the mines, hear some heavenly male voice choirs and even meet a genuine Welsh witch on this wonderful Welsh whistle-stop tour.

Newcastle
This episode visits Newcastle and the north east of England. Miriam guides viewers along the Tyne, taking in the beautiful bridges, the bustling quayside and the Hoppings fair. The programme meets the locals to learn some Geordie, sees Dr Martin Luther King accept his honorary degree from Newcastle University and joins in a jolly night on the town - with plenty of song along the way.

Brighton
This episode's destination is Brighton. Miriam guides viewers through the stylish city by way of George IV's pleasure palace, the pier and the promenade, and a nod to the nudist beach. Abba put in an appearance, as do music hall charladies Gert and Daisy, various mods and rockers, and a man up a pole. With Pride, the Brighton Festival and the Burning of the Clocks setting the scene, we are in for a colourful and riveting tour.
