Police use the A1 to catch shoplifters on the run. And a mission to drive a lifesize iced TV icon through the night proves anything but a piece of cake.

A1 patrol officers launch a high-speed pursuit to catch a reckless motorist. Traffic officers battle to keep the road moving during the bank holiday getaway. And the mystery of an abandoned vehicle with a missing owner.

Episode 5
A pedestrian goes walkabout on the motorway putting lives in danger. Police use brute force to rescue stranded motorists in rush hour traffic. And a British military icon goes into battle against the A1 traffic.

Episode 6
An accident on a wet road leaves a life hanging in the balance. A lorry fire threatens to cause traffic chaos on the A1, and the closure of the road leaves an antiques dealer counting the cost.

Episode 7
Police face a hefty challenge to clear a road after a bin lorry overturns. Safety inspectors launch a clampdown on dangerous lorries, and a canine team's journey up the A1 is dogged by traffic chaos.

Episode 8
Police face a tricky pursuit to stop a suspected stolen car on a rain-soaked A1. Traffic officers battle to remove dangerous debris from the road which could cause chaos. And police arrest a reckless drink driver who is nearly five times over the limit.

Episode 9
Police race to a lorry engulfed in flames which is threatening to close the road. Plus, the gospel choir singing out loud on the Great North Road and the supersize RAF blowout that goes from bad to worse.

Episode 10
Traffic cops box clever to catch a motorist red-handed. A distressing crash leaves drivers in shock, and two film-loving newlyweds take the A1 high road for a bit of movie magic.

Amandaland
Following three series of the Merman-produced, BAFTA award-winning series Motherland, a brand-new spin-off, Amandaland, is coming to the BBC, focused on Amanda.
Post her divorce, Amanda has had to downsize and up sticks to South Harlesden, or as the Estate Agent calls it SoHa (definitely not the area around Wormwood Scrubs prison).
With both Manus and Georgie now at secondary school, Amanda has to try and get her head around raising teenagers, dealing with modern motherhood horrors like teenage drinking, fake Instagram accounts and eco anxiety. Not even a woman as certain of her parenting as Amanda can deal with these nightmares alone.
Then there's Amanda's mother Felicity who is constantly around, and completely in denial that she is, in fact, lonely. Theirs is a slightly unhealthy co-dependent relationship based on backhanded compliments and veiled snipes about her new home.
After a brief spell of freedom, Anne is sucked back into being Amanda's minion to help her navigate the social scene with the other parents at the children's new school. Thank God for Anne.

The Pitt
