A Stitch Through Time - Season 2

Season 2

Episodes

Episode 1
A Stitch Through Time returns for a second series, presented by Claire McCollum. Four of Northern Ireland's best emerging fashion designers take on sustainability and design-based challenges, against the clock, inspired by Ulster's rich textiles heritage. Each week, top designers Katie Larmour and Una Rodden decide who has what it takes as the young fashionistas try to prove they can cut it in the demanding world of couture.
The first episode is inspired by the Herdman family of Sion Mills, who had a vision of creating a model village and achieved it against all odds. The first challenge tasks the designers with making an apron from pre-loved linen garments, while in the six hour challenge, the designers must create a ‘sunday best' look from linen.

Episode 2
Presenter Claire McCollum welcomes the four young designers back to the design studio to face more fashion challenges inspired by the needlework and thrift craft of the girls and women in the Ulster-Scots heartland of the Ards Peninsula.
Celebrating sustainability in fashion, the designers must first turn pre-loved men's shirts into a dress fit for the catwalk, before taking on the six-hour challenge inspired by Ulster's long tradition of delicate Ayrshire whitework, delicate embroidery, upcycling and patchwork quilting.
Once again, the designers will have to impress judges Katie Larmour and Una Rodden with their ambitious design skills, technical abilities and in how they have drawn inspiration from the women of the Ards peninsula in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Episode 3
It's elimination week as presenter Claire McCollum welcomes the four designers back to the design studio to face two cotton-based fashion challenges.
First, the designers have 90 minutes to turn a selection of pre-loved cotton casuals into a standout skirt fit for the catwalk. Finally, the designers must create a power suit inspired by the Ulster-Scots entrepreneurs who introduced industrial cotton spinning to Belfast in the late 1700s.
Which two designers will make it through to the final? And which two designers will be sent home?

Episode 4
Hosted by Claire McCollum, the competition reaches its climax as the final two fashion designers go head to head to be crowned series winner of A Stitch through Time.
This episode is inspired by a group of Ulster-Scots poets known as the ‘Rhyming Weavers', who were influenced by the Scottish poet Robert Burns and the rhythm of their Jacquard looms, where they composed much of their poetry.
